On Masculinity & Gender Equality

MARCH 4TH, 2020

Continuing the conversations in POSTSCRIPT’s The Defiance Issue, this event invites guests to dissect masculinity within a larger context, addressing the changing roles and positions of men in our society and the need to reform the way we all think about and understand masculinity to confront gender inequalities. 

The evening will include a small exhibition hosted by àsìkò addressing the presentation and performance of manhood, featuring artworks from àsìkò, Alexandra Leese, Ahmet Polat and others, contributing alternative narratives on what it means to be a man cross-culturally. Following the exhibition, group discussions on The Positioning of Women within the ‘Masculinity Crisis’ will be facilitated by POSTSCRIPT founders, Chinasa Chukwu and Elvira Vedelago, as well as Ben Hurst, Head of Facilitation and Training at the Good Lad Initiative. Acting as an opportunity to reflect on the expectations and responsibilities placed on women within the ‘masculinity crisis’ debate and what expectations they have for the resolution of the issue.
